Best Golf Simulator Software UK 2026: GSPro vs E6 vs Awesome Golf

The launch monitor measures the shot. The software decides what you see, where you can play and what computer or device you need. Course counts alone are misleading, so start with compatibility and the experience you want.

43,000 courses vs 15,000 vs 2,500 — which is actually better?

It is not an apples-to-apples comparison. Garmin says Home Tee Hero covers 43,000+ courses rendered in 3D. TruGolf says E6 (2026) offers 15,000+ 4K courses. GSPro advertises 2,500+ user-created courses, many lidar-based, plus a growing group of official courses. The numbers describe different kinds of libraries, so the biggest number is not automatically the best simulator experience.

Which software works with my launch monitor?

This is the question to answer before buying software. A tick below means the provider currently lists the combination; “conditions” means an extra manufacturer plan or prerequisite may apply.

What each package is really good at

GSPro: best for realistic PC-based simulator golf

GSPro is Windows-only and is aimed squarely at serious simulation. Its current site lists 2,500+ community-created courses, realistic ball physics, local/online play and 4K graphics. For 1080p it recommends at least a GTX 3060 and 16GB memory; a stronger GPU is recommended as resolution rises. That PC requirement belongs in your simulator budget.

E6 (2026): best for a huge polished course catalogue

Do not confuse the new E6 with the older E6 Connect. TruGolf describes E6 (2026) as its latest generation for individual golfers/home simulators and advertises 15,000+ 4K courses. Its tiers split course play from improvement tools, so check which features you actually want before comparing the headline subscription price.

Awesome Golf: best for practice, games and flexible devices

Awesome Golf is a different proposition: practice ranges, challenges and games are central to the experience. A licence is tied to the launch monitor and can be used across supported Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS and Android devices. In the UK it currently offers monthly, annual and lifetime options.

Garmin Home Tee Hero: best for simple, broad course coverage

Home Tee Hero is particularly attractive to Garmin R10/R50 owners who value breadth and convenience. Garmin says it offers more than 43,000 courses rendered in 3D. Access requires an active Garmin Golf membership with a compatible launch monitor.

Famous-course finder: what is actually verified?

A famous course appearing in a simulator library does not always mean the same thing. It may be licensed premium content, a provider-created recreation, a community-created lidar build or a mapped 3D representation. We only put a course in the table below when we can verify it from the software provider's current information.

What about Garmin and GSPro? Garmin Home Tee Hero gives compatible R10/R50 users more than 43,000 mapped 3D courses and says selected enhanced courses use high-resolution lidar data for every green. GSPro currently advertises more than 2,500 high-quality, lidar-based community-created courses, but explicitly says its simulations are not endorsed by or affiliated with the corresponding real-world courses or owners. For that reason, we do not present GSPro course names as official versions of famous venues.

And St Andrews? We have deliberately not put a tick beside it. A familiar or lookalike course name is not enough evidence of an official or current representation. If St Andrews is the course you specifically want, verify it inside the provider's current library before paying.

Golf Gear Lab rule: course count is useful, but course provenance matters. If one bucket-list course is central to your purchase, verify the exact course, software generation and subscription tier first.

The hidden cost: software can change the hardware you need

Do not compare software subscriptions in isolation. GSPro needs a Windows PC and a capable graphics card. Awesome Golf can work across a much wider selection of devices. Some launch monitors also require their own paid plan before third-party software will connect — for example, Rapsodo Premium is required for MLM2PRO with both GSPro and Awesome Golf, while Garmin Golf membership is not required to use a Garmin launch monitor with Awesome Golf.

1. Decide what you want to do: realistic rounds, famous courses, serious practice, family games or a mixture.
2. Choose the software experience: don't start with the biggest course-count number.
3. Check launch-monitor compatibility: including any required manufacturer plan.
4. Check the computer/device requirement: especially if GSPro or high-resolution simulation is on your shortlist.
5. Add the full annual cost: software + launch-monitor subscription + any hardware upgrade.

Buying a launch monitor first and discovering afterwards that your preferred software or course library does not work with it is an avoidable mistake.
