Hardware: the device itself. Platform subscription: recurring fees for advanced features or cloud services. Simulator software: optional third-party packages and course libraries. Compare all three over the period you expect to own the device.
Who should prioritise no subscription
If you mainly practise at the range or want basic numbers, a device with strong core functionality and no mandatory recurring fee can be attractive. Simulator users should instead compare the complete software ecosystem because the best experience may justify an ongoing cost.
