Golf simulator planning

How to choose a golf simulator enclosure.

An enclosure is a safety structure first and a visual frame second. Specify it around the room, impact screen and likely miss pattern.

The decision checklist

DecisionWhat to check
Finished external sizeAllow for frame, padding, screen gap, fixings and access—not only quoted screen size.
Side protectionCover realistic shanks and ricochets for every intended user.
Ceiling protectionConsider wedges and high-launch shots as well as driver.
AccessRetain safe access to doors, storage, electrics and maintenance points.
Retractable systemsCheck tension, side protection and repeatable alignment after every deployment.

Questions to ask a supplier

  • What exact dimensions and clearances are required?
  • What is included, excluded and consumable?
  • Which launch monitors and room layouts have been tested?
  • What warranty and UK support are provided?
  • What must be replaced or renewed over five years?

What we would avoid

  • Assuming the screen alone contains every shot
  • Blocking ventilation or emergency access
  • Leaving exposed hard frame members
  • Ordering before projector geometry is resolved

Complete the room plan

Do not buy this component in isolation. Check how it interacts with the room, launch monitor, screen geometry, software and complete budget.

Before you buy

Choose the enclosure around the room, not the photograph

1. Confirm safe swing space

Ceiling height and golfer clearance come before enclosure dimensions. Allow for the tallest intended user and both right- and left-handed play where required.

2. Match width and protection

Use the available wall-to-wall width to decide screen size, side protection and whether a compact or full enclosure makes sense.

3. Decide fixed or multi-use

A permanent room can prioritise rigidity and blackout; a garage or shared room may benefit from retractable or easier-to-remove protection.

BUY IN THE RIGHT ORDER

Fit the component to the room plan

We only add a retailer buying route when the exact product and commercial destination have been verified. Until then, use the room plan and specification checks above rather than buying from an unverified package link.
