Can you use a golf simulator with an 8-foot ceiling?
Sometimes, but 8 ft (2.44 m) is restrictive for many golfers and is not a safe universal recommendation. The deciding test is whether every intended user can make a completely natural driver swing, on the finished hitting surface, with comfortable clearance from the ceiling, lights, beams and garage-door hardware.
- Do not buy equipment from the ceiling measurement alone: test the tallest user’s normal driver swing first.
- Allow for the hitting mat, which raises the golfer closer to the ceiling.
- A shorter golfer or compact swing may work at 8 ft, while a taller golfer or upright swing may need materially more height.

Is an 8, 8.5 or 9-Foot Ceiling High Enough for a Golf Simulator?
Room height alone cannot approve a simulator. Your height, swing shape, longest club, mat thickness and precise hitting position decide whether it is safe and comfortable.
9 Feet Is the Realistic Minimum Ceiling Height for Most Golfers
Eight feet is usually a severe compromise. Eight and a half feet may work for some golfers. Nine feet is much more realistic; ten feet gives greater flexibility. None is a guarantee—test before buying.
