Mevo Gen2 or MLM2PRO: the practical answer
For most first-time buyers the MLM2PRO is the better-value starting point; the Mevo Gen2 is the better long-term buy if you would otherwise pay for Rapsodo Premium for several years.
Work out the real cost, not the box price
The MLM2PRO hardware is about £549. Most owners who want the simulator and advanced features will add Premium, and Rapsodo’s current UK lifetime option is £499.99. That puts a fully unlocked MLM2PRO at around £1,049 — close to the Mevo Gen2’s £1,199. Mevo Gen2 includes FlightScope’s FS Golf app and an 8-course E6 Connect bundle, and FlightScope says there is no required subscription. Third-party simulator software such as GSPro still needs its own licence on either unit.
Room depth decides more purchases than data
Both are rear-mounted radar units, so both need depth. Rapsodo specifies 6.5–8.5 ft behind the ball plus 8 ft to the net. Published Mevo Gen2 guidance is about 8 ft behind the ball and at least 8 ft to the screen, with 13 ft to the screen recommended for the best spin readings. That means roughly 16 ft of room depth at a squeeze and around 21 ft ideally. In a typical UK single garage the MLM2PRO is the easier fit. If you have less than 14–15 ft, look at a side-on camera unit such as Square Golf instead.
Video or data?
The MLM2PRO’s standout feature is automatic swing and impact video, which is genuinely useful for practice. The Mevo Gen2 is data-led instead. It publishes 18 parameters, and an optional Pro Package adds club path and face angle. Both need special balls, or dots on the ball, for accurate indoor spin, so budget for them.
