What independent testing reveals

Golf Monthly’s Joel Tadman found the Pro L5 clearer and quicker than the Shot Scope lasers he had previously used, with a comfortable grip and useful cart magnet. It makes a persuasive case for golfers wanting a sharper view without moving to the most expensive tier. The closely placed buttons take a little familiarisation.

The reviewer liked the red display and rapid distance presentation. He sometimes pressed Mode instead of the firing button, and noted that target-lock vibration needed a press-and-hold action. These are useful details to try in a shop before buying.

Why it stands out

The PRO L5 brings features usually found on £300+ lasers: 7x magnification, a bright OLED display and fast target detection with vibration. The magnet holds it on a cart or trolley.

It is on the heavy side at 340 g and uses a CR2 battery. The older PRO L2 is still sold for less, but the L5 is the one we would buy.

Using it in competitions	Distance-measuring devices are allowed in most UK competitions under Rule 4.3a. Switch off slope, “plays like” and club-advice features, and check the competition terms: a committee can ban devices with Model Local Rule G-5.
Your rights when buying online	Bought online from a UK retailer, you can cancel within 14 days of delivery (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). If it is faulty you have 30 days to reject it for a full refund, and up to six years (five in Scotland) to claim for a fault that was there at delivery (Consumer Rights Act 2015).
